Free Telescopic Astronomy Event

Sci-Tech invites the public to a free telescopic astronomy event on Sunday, November 16, at 7:00pm. Featured at this observing session will be the planet Saturn with its rings, which will be almost due South in the sky during the event.

November 16 is also the peak of the Leonid Meteor Shower, and we hope to see a few of those as well. The Leonids result from debris left behind by Comet Tempel-Tuttle officially discovered in 1865 and 1866.

Sci-Tech staff will be on hand to help viewers observe telescopic images, point out interesting celestial phenomena, and guide viewers around the sky.

This event will be held in Watertown’s Thompson Park, on West Tower Drive, across from the 10th Mountain Division Monument.

Observers should plan to dress warmly.

In the event of overcast skies, the astronomy night will be canceled.
